Internationalization Self-study

The members of the NCA Self-Study, led by Dean Sherman Garnett , have been assigned by the Provost with the task of developing a strategic look at Internationalization at MSU.  Given MSU's historic and ongoing commitment to global research, teaching and outreach and the accelerating impact of globalization on higher education, the aim of the committee is to produce an analysis of the key issues, options for the future and a set of recommendations for sustaining MSU's commitment to internationalization  and adapting it to the 21st century.

We have developed this web site to share information about the self-study process and to facilitate your feedback to the committee.  A background document on the self-study and a set of guiding questions that have shaped the committee's work are included to introduce you to the process.  This site also contains meeting summaries, working group and retreat papers on issues related to the structure and organization fob International Studies and Programs, global environmental work at MSU, foreign language instruction, new technologies to facilitate internationalization, as well as links to ongoing work taking place elsewhere on campus.

Within the next four months we plan to undertake a dialogue with the campus community that will help shape the final document.  Drafts of that document will be available on this web site and through a series of meeting designed to obtain your comments.

The committee encourages each of you to familiarize yourself with the self-study material and to contact us with any questions, comments, requests for information or to schedule a meeting.
